Kurdish PM and Iraq Finance Minister Tackle Outstanding Issues

The Prime Minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, Barham Saleh, has received the Iraqi minister of finance, Bayan Jabr, to discuss pending issues between Baghdad and Arbil, an official statement said on Tuesday.

“The visit has been devoted to outstanding financial issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG),” read the statement that was published on the KRG’s official web site.

Saleh, who is expected to visit the capital Baghdad soon, said: “Pending issues will not be resolved overnight. Moving towards appropriate solutions is a significant step in itself.”

The minister said that official meetings will begin today to discuss a host of issues, including the allocations for the northern region in the 2010 budget.

On Monday (Dec. 7), Jabr led a senior Finance Ministry delegation to Arbil.
