Singaporean Company Considers Investment in Basra

A delegation comprised of representatives of a Singaporean company has discussed with Basra’s governor the establishment of a luxury hotel in the city.

“The governor of Basra, Shaltagh Abboud al-Mayyah, has welcomed the project and offered to provide all facilities…,” a local media source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The five-star hotel will be built on the current Novotel al-Marbad Hotel headquarters, which was destroyed during the war, the source explained.

The Shiite province of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
