“Accompanied by some of his advisors, the German ambassador, Paul von Maltzahn, arrived on Saturday in Basra and met with a number of businessmen and industry players to discuss the economic situation in the city,” Abd al-Saheb told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
German companies have a willingness to enter the markets in Basra, Saleh indicated.
The German official later met with the governor of Basra, Shaltagh Abod, and the chairman and members of its provincial council, Saleh added.
