More Business at Iraqi Ports

The Iraqi ports of Umm Qasr and Abu Falous continue to receive a steady flow of merchant ships carrying varied cargos.  Ships from Panama, the United States, Liberia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates have recently arrived containing various cargoes including pipes, iron, fuel and cement.

Mr. Iain Blake, Senior Broker at Anglo Arab Insurance Brokers Ltd., commented, “I handle a good deal of Iraqi transit risks and detect a rise in the frequency and volumes of cargoes arriving at Iraqi ports. The type of cargoes continues to be very varied although there are always high levels of construction materials and we expect this to continue for some considerable time given the extensive reconstruction programmes in place as Iraq rebuilds its infrastructure.”
