Iraq and United Nations Discuss Co-financing Mechanisms for Donor Countries’ Projects

Iraq in coordination with the United Nations has formed a joint technical committee to search for co-financing mechanisms for projects of donor countries. This came during a meeting of the advisory board, the Council of Ministers with the representatives of the United Nations. The chairman Thamer Ghadhban said that the meeting recommended the formation of a joint technical committee between the relevant ministries, to choose mechanisms that is consistent with legislative and administrative frameworks in Iraq.

For its part, Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq, Christine McNab, said UN organization is designed to identify good mechanisms for co-financing, through recruitment of international expertise for benefit of Iraq. In turn, asked the representative of Ministry of Finance co-financing projects subject to regulations and instructions of government contracts with respect to the part implemented by the Iraqi government and coordination among the ministries concerned.
