The Iraqi Council of Ministers has decided to grant a license to the 4th mobile phone provider in Iraq.
“The decision comes in order to activate the communication sector in Iraq, and to provide better cell phone service to the Iraqi people,” Dr. Ali al-Dabbagh, the official spokesperson of the Iraqi government, said on Sunday in a release received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
He noted that the permission will be granted to the Iraqi Communication Ministry to cover a service period of 2.5 years.
“The ministry’s income from this project should be no less than 35 percent,” al-Dabbagh explained.
He noted that the project will be implemented by the ministry’s staff.
