Kuwait Airways Will Take Legal Measures Against Iraqi Airways Liquidation

Kuwait Airways Corporation will take the necessary legal measures to protect its rights, after Baghdad’s decision to liquidate the Iraqi Airways, said National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Al-Kharafi hoped that “wisdom prevails” and that the Kuwaiti and Iraqis sides would “reach an understanding that is acceptable for both sides.” He added, “If it is the right of the Iraqi side to take the measures it finds suitable, then it is our duty on the Kuwaiti side on take the necessary legal measures to protect our rights.” Asked about the outcomes of his recent visit to Tehran, Al-Kharafi said that it was “good, and came at an opportune time.”

The speaker added that many issues were discussed during this visit of with “friends in the Islamic Republic of Iran.” “My meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was good and frank, and we discusses bilateral relations,” Al-Kharafi said, while noting the president’s keenness for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to visit Iran.
