The Iraqi Construction and Housing Ministry has announced plans to build 504 houses in the province of Diyala by the end of 2011, said the minister on Monday.
Minister Bayan Dezayi [Bayan Dezei] said the project was worth 53 billion Iraqi Dinars (ID), over $45 million.
Dezayi said they aim to complete the road between the Dhiqar and Babil provinces before the end of 2011.
“We have reached an agreement with a United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s company to reconstruct the 12 km-long main road between Dhi Qar and Maysan. The road between Romadi and Fallujah will also be restored,” he said.
As for the public projects in the boundary of the Kurdistan Region the minister said 1.3 billion Iraqi Dinars (ID), approximately $1 million, is allocated to construct the 29 km-road between Erbil and Didga as well as Erbil and Gwer.
“We have allocated 271 million ID, around $230,000, to reconstruct and renovate the road between Hillah and Babil areas.”
The strategy also aims to ease the housing crisis in Diyala.
