Work Starts on $5m Kirkuk Bridge

Work has started on a bridge a linking Kirkuk to Mosul at a total cost of 6 billion Iraqi dinars [$5m], as part the Provincial Development Budget (PDB) for the year 2010, a local official in Kirkuk told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The Sadr al-al-Nahr bridge will link Mosul to Kirkuk in the district of al-Huweija, 65 km southwest of Kirkuk and would be the longest in the province,” said senior engineer Qassem Hamza al-Bayyati, the director of the Kirkuk Roads & Bridges Department.

“The bridge is 450 meters long and 12 meters wide,” he added.
