More Jobs For the Boys

It seems that the newly-appointed Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, and his team are having to be increasingly inventive in their efforts to piece together a new cabinet.

Creating, in effect, two energy ministries – if indeed these rumours are true – will help increase the size of the cabinet pie that he can then dole out to the various parties who insist on being represented at the table.

Changing the number of Deputy Prime Minister posts from two to three, creating the new ‘strategy’ position for Ayad Allawi, and possibly devising new ministerial positions, may help to keep the rival factions on-side, but it is hardly conducive to the efficient running of the country. It’s an unfortunate, but perhaps necessary, trade off.

Update from Iraq Business News

The Iraq Business News brand continues to go from strength to strength, recently achieving a page-view count of over 300,000 for the month.

With that in mind it is perhaps appropriate that the latest addition to our panel of expert bloggers is a marketing expert with strong views on the role of branding in the Iraqi marketplace. Lisa Knight is the Founder and Creative Director of The Brand Foundation, and we are delighted to welcome her to our team.

Lisa’s articles can be found in a sub-tab under the ‘Communications‘ tab, or through our ‘Expert Bloggers’ panel on the right-hand side of the home page.

And as always, Upper Quartile and AAIB are on hand to help you realise your company’s potential in Iraq. For more information please contact Gavin Jones or Adrian Shaw.
