The Middle East Association, supported by the National Investment Commission of Iraq, UK Trade & Investment and Allurentis, is pleased to announce the 2011 Iraq Trade and Investment Conference, “Iraq: Untapped Opportunities”. This conference will take place at London’s Dorchester Hotel on 22nd November.
This event will provide a high-level forum for senior representatives from the private sector, government and academia, from both Iraq and the UK, to present, discuss and share ideas on the UK’s commercial relationship with Iraq.
Despite the complexities of a post-conflict environment, Iraq is making major strides in rebuilding its economy in order to engage comprehensively with international trade and commerce. Ever more British companies are starting to take the necessary steps to enter this promising market. Latest trade statistics for 2011 (Jan-May) show a 19% increase on UK visible British exports to Iraq over 2010, which totalled £194m for the year.
There are major opportunities across a number of sectors, such as power, infrastructure, housing, water, healthcare and education, as well as the traditionally-strong oil and gas sector. The Conference will not only highlight the opportunities available to British companies but will also give frank advice on business practicalities in post-conflict Iraq.
The day’s schedule, to be released in full in the near future, will include:
· Keynote addresses from senior British and Iraqi government figures
· Panel 1: Opportunities for British Businesses
· Panel 2: Practicalities of Doing Business in Iraq
· Panel 3: Overview of Key Sectors
· Networking Lunch at the Dorchester Hotel
To attend please complete this registration form and return to the Middle East Association (email@example.com) by the closing date, 1st November. In accordance with MEA policy, all events must be paid for in advance.
