The Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Ali Saeed, last week met with British ministers and universities to deepen and expand cooperation in the higher education and scientific research sectors.
Minister Saeed led a delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s Council of Ministers and Ministry of Higher Education, accompanied by the KRG UK Representation.
During the week-long visit, the delegation attended the British Embassy business event, organised by the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in celebration of the Olympics, to highlight the educational opportunities and partnerships between the UK and the rest of the world.
During this event the KRG delegation had the opportunity to meet Lord Green Minister of State for Trade and Investment, David Willetts MP Minister of State for Universities and Science, and Alistair Burt MP FCO Minister of State for the Middle East.
The British Ministers highlighted the good relationship the UK has with the KRG and looked forward to developing this cooperation further, especially in the higher education sector. David Willetts in his speech highlighted how the UK and the KRG have been able to work successfully together in strengthening the higher education exchanges. He said the cooperation with Kurdistan sets an example of how Britain can work governments in other countries around the world.
