Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari inaugurated on June 6, 2013 the first Iraqi passports issuance center abroad in the Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Dubai.
This center is connected to the central office in Baghdad and will save the Iraqi people a lot of effort, time, travel and facilitations, the center was established under close cooperation between the ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs.
The opening ceremony took place at the Consulate General in Dubai and was attended by the Consul General, Ismat Ageed, and representatives of the Interior Ministry and a group of dignitaries and representatives of the Iraqi community in Dubai.
Minister Zebari praised this achievement which is necessary for the Iraqi citizens abroad and the adoption of all international security specifications for the issuance of Iraqi passports, the ceremony witnessed issuing the first passport in the center.
The government is due to open other centers in other areas in the world where there are Iraqi communities.
