Iraq’s human rights ministry has said that more than 18 percent of the Iraqi population is living below the poverty line.
This amounts to 6.4 million people, mostly in rural areas.
According to the report from Aswat al-Iraq, the ministry added that while Iraq is one of the richest countries in oil revenues, individual expenditures are low in comparison to neighboring countries.
