The American company MD Helicopters has reportedly won a contract from the Kurdistan Regional Government for the supply of 12 civilian helicopters.
Equipped with the latest state of the art technology, including NVG compatible cockpit, high powered searchlight and advanced avionics, the MD 530F choppers will be delivered by the end of this year.
The KRG said the aircraft will help the Ministry of Interior Affairs in monitoring the region’s airspace, surveying the mountainous regions, and taking part in firefighting missions.
MD Helicopters is based in Mesa, Arizona, and the current product line includes the MD 500E, MD 530F, MD 520N, MD 600N and the MD Explorer.
