USAID Heads Visit Iraq

The success of Iraq and our partnership is extremely important to USAID. It is why I have made Iraq my very first international trip since taking over as Associate Administrator.”

In Erbil Mr. Feierstein and Ms. Romanowski met with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Barzani to discuss USAID project operations in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region as well as KRG assistance to Syrian refugees in Iraq. Together with USAID staff from the Consulate General in Erbil they toured the Kawergosk Refugee Camp to speak with UN and KRG staff involved in the camp’s maintenance and operation.

The U.S. Mission in Iraq, including USAID, remains committed to Iraq’s economic development and diversification as well as to strengthening GOI institutions and capacity to deliver needed services to Iraqi citizens in line with the Strategic Framework Agreement signed between the U.S. and Iraq.
