The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is pleased to announce the open application period for the 2014 Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Student Leaders Program. In support of the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement, this program provides opportunities for Iraqi undergraduate students to travel to the United States for 6 weeks in the summer of 2014 to develop their leadership skills and expand their understanding of the democratic process.
The application process is a merit-based competition open to Iraqi undergraduate students between the ages of 18 and 24. Applicants must demonstrate a good command of the English language, high academic achievement, and a strong commitment to civic engagement in their local communities.
Selected Iraqi students will join their American peers and students from other countries of the Middle East and North Africa in one of six U.S. academic institutions for an intensive exchange that includes academic coursework, as well as study tours to various regions of the United States from June 25 to August 7, 2014.
