The Oil and Energy Committee of the Iraqi parliament has decided to approve a government request to increase the discount on oil exports to Jordan from $18 per barrel to $20 per barrel.
Iraq also supplies Jordan with natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and heavy fuel, but according to a report from Azzaman, the quantities exported are considerably below pre-2003 levels.
At that time, Iraq supplied all of Jordan’s energy needs of about 100,000 bpd, at almost half the international market price; Iraq currently exports 15,000 bpd of oil by truck, but plans to increase this with a new pipeline.
