The Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL) has reportedly seized the last border crossing between Syria and Iraq controlled by the Syrian government.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday that forces loyal to Syrian President Assad withdrew from the crossing, while Reuters reports that Iraqi security forces have also withdrawn from their side.
The crossing is known as as al-Waleed in Iraq and al-Tanf in Syria.
