The Islamic State group (IS, ISIS, ISIL) has continued its recruitment efforts in its territory even after almost 15,000 fighters were killed in coalition led airstrikes.
The international coalition began its air campaign on August 8, 2014 and has conducted over 5,500 strikes on IS targets.
The United States does not maintain an accurate body count of the fighters killed as it is not an accurate portrayal of process in the fight against the IS.
Commanders believe that the airstrikes in combination with advances made by Kurdish and Iraqi soldiers have weakened the IS.
