The Iraqi Parliament has set a deadline of Thursday this week for Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to present a new cabinet.
Nearly two months ago, Abadi said he would replace the current ministers with “technocrat” figures who are no affiliated with political parties.
“If Abadi fails to present his new cabinet, he must be present in parliament on Saturday to explain why,” said Haidar al-Mutlaq, an MP from the State of Law bloc.
According to BasNews, Kurds are insisting that their 20 percent share of the cabinet must be maintained while the Kurdish political parties should have the authority to introduce their technocrat candidates.
