RSK Group’s Iraq Projects Win Accolade

By Simon Kent

RSK Group have recently won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, widely seen as the most prestigious award for UK enterprise.

Key to the award was their environmental work cleaning up the vast oilfields at Rumaila and Majnoon. But according to RSK Group, this was an opportunity they seized in the geo-environmental services field because other service providers were hesitant to enter the MENA region.

But the group’s work led to them establishing a laboratory in Iraq Energy City, Basrah in May 2014, where they have trained over 50 Iraqi technicians in engineering skills and safety, in ascociation with the University of Basrah. Training efforts are ongoing.

According to RSK Group Director and Iraq country manager Sean Gamble, the award,

“Recognises the skill, dedication and integrity of our excellent team, and the contribution we are making to Iraq. We are proud of our laboratory, which is the first laboratory accredited to ISO standards in Iraq, and of what we have achieved in the region. This inspires us to continue to rise to the challenges and opportunities offered there.”
