Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Mr Fumio Iwai.
During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations and means to promote them so as to meet the aspirations of the two friendly people, as well as, discussing the regional and international issues of mutual interests.
The minister asserted the importance of the resumption of the joint economic commission meetings in Baghdad, referring to the provision of investment opportunities in Iraq, which allows the Japanese companies to take advantage of this.
Both sides agreed on exchanging support and bilateral cooperation on the international issues, such as supporting the candidacy for seats of the United Nations.
While, the Japanese Ambassador asserted Japan’s support for the Iraqi government in the war against the terrorist gangs of Da’esh, expressing the readiness of Japan to cooperate in the international forums, and the readiness of the Japanese companies to invest in Iraq.
