Ukraine to open Consulate in Kurdistan

In his meeting with the KRG Minister of Foreign Relations, Ambassador of Ukraine to Iraq Mr. Anatolii Marynts announced the decision of the government of Ukraine to open an honorary consulate in the Kurdistan Region in a near future.

The Ambassador expressed his government’s desire to further broaden ties with the Kurdistan Region in various fields. He commended the leadership of President Masoud Barzani and contributions of Peshmerga forces in the global campaign against ISIS terrorists.

Minister Mustafa welcomed the decision of the Ukrainian government to open a representation office in Erbil and stated that it would be a stepping stone in establishing and broadening political, cultural, educational, and commercial ties between Kurdistan and Ukraine.

Both sides spoke in detail of the challenges facing Iraq and Kurdistan, particularly the humanitarian, military, and political aspects of Mosul operation.
