NIC Boss urges UK to relax Visa Rules

The Chairman of Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC), Dr Sami Al Araji, has called for the UK Government to relax its rules on visas for visiting Iraqi business people, and to alter its travel advice for Iraq on the basis that much of the country is safe for business people to travel to.

Addressing a meeting of the the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), Dr Al Araji outlined a list of major projects in the oil and gas, energy, water and infrastructure sectors that British companies are invited to participate in, adding that other countries are already more active in the country.

With regard to the difficulties of doing business in Iraq, he suggested that companies dealing with individual ministries should register with him so that he can bring his influence to bear in pushing activity along.

IBBC President Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, who hosted the meeting, confirmed that the issues of visas and travel advice are already being addressed.
