Iraqi PM Pushes Electricity Projects

By John Lee.

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has held a meeting with the Ministers of Electricity and Oil to discuss electricity supply in Iraq, and directed that all electricity projects, especially those agreed with Siemens, be implemented without delay.

He added that Iraq has spent billions of dollars on the electricity sector in recent years, but because of corruption, waste and mismanagement, it failed to build a modern power grid that meets the needs of its citizens.

the PM said he is determined to address the problems in the electricity sector, implement plans for its development, and tackle corruption in all its forms in this critical sector.

    Sirs,

We sincerely wish the PM is serious and means it!! hope it is not to calm public anger!

This Gov should appoint an independent panel to oversee the full execution of these essential projects until completion. They should also be given full authority to eliminate any obstacles facing these projects without any political party interference , otherwise they are increasing Iraqi's misery further and further to the 17 years of waste, theft and negligence. There is no need to recycle former deputy minister to be in charge again!!

The Ministry of Electricity is one of the most corrupted ministries in Iraq to say the least!
