The Representation’s Director of Trade and Investment Mr Amanj Yarwaessi made a speech about Kurdistan’s cultural, economic and security situation. He said he hoped to overcome some preconceptions because the Region is secure, peaceful and stable, and offers many investment opportunities. The guests were treated to Kurdish as well as Spanish food, and a performance of Kurdish folk music.
In Erbil Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir, the KRG’s Head of Foreign Relations, said, “I am delighted that we have officially opened a KRG Representation in Madrid. We already have very good relations with Spain, through the Embassy in Baghdad but also the Spanish Honorary Consul in Erbil, which recently participated in the Erbil International Trade Fair and has done some business with our agricultural sector. The Representation paves the way for us to have closer political, cultural and economic ties.”
The KRG Representation office was informally opened in September this year and has been working to build closer relations with Spain in the fields of trade and investment, education and science, and art and culture.
