BACTEC International Opens Office in Basra

BACTEC International Limited, one of the world’s leading Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Mine Action companies, announced the opening of its Basra office in January. The company’s head quarters are located in the UK with branches in Australia, Cambodia, Libya, Lao, Philippines and Mozambique. BACTEC also has an office in Sulaimani to support Kurdistan operations.

BACTEC has some 20 years experience in the industry and has carried out contracts in over 45 countries to-date clearing and or verifying as ordnance free in excess of 100,000,000 square metres of previously contaminated or suspect ordnance contaminated land. BACTEC is now looking forward to bringing its experience and expertise to Iraq to assist in the major ordnance clearance requirement and assist in the development and restructure of Iraq.

BACTEC has extensive experience in explosive ordnance (including landmines) survey, investigation, training, consultancy and clearance of land contaminated with ordnance. BACTEC also provides the same range of services for marine environments both for inland waterways and offshore situations. BACTEC has recently completed a marine survey at Um Qasr and is currently engaged in another marine survey operation in the Gulf. BACTEC provides a complete range of high quality services for mitigating the risk from the explosive remnants of war (ERW) worldwide. Clients include oil, gas and mineral multinationals, governments, specialist units of the MoD, the UN, EC, DFID, and NATO.
