The Director General of BOTAS (Boru Hatlari ile Petrol Tasima AS), Turkey’s state-owned Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, said on Sunday that “during recent talks in Iraq, the Iraqis asked for assistance to re-build a 40 inches petroleum pipeline that was destroyed. We told the Iraqis that we are ready to help them”.
Speaking in southern province of Adana, Fazil Senel said that Turkey had made great progress towards becoming an energy base. We plan pipelines successfully and operate them, Senel said.
Touching on their recent talks in Iraq, Senel said that Iraq wanted to build 2-3 oil pipelines from Basra to Zakho and that the Iraqis wanted to transfer oil from Basra to other markets through Turkey. Iraq wants cooperation with Turkey for oil and natural gas.
