He went on to commend President Barzani's reform plans, wishing the Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq a stable and prosperous future.
On a personal level, the Dutch Ambassador thanked President Barzani for the warmth and hospitality shown to him and all Dutch government officials who visited the Kurdistan Region during his tenure, highlighting that he will always remember and cherish the memories of his time spent here.
Attending the Ambassador's meeting with President Barzani were the President's Chief of Staff, Dr Fuad Hussein, and the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir.
Dutch Ambassador van Leeuwen also held separate meetings with the KRG's Minister for the Interior Karim Sinjari, Dr. Fuad Hussein and Minister Bakir to thank them for their support during his tenure.
During his meeting with Minister Bakir, the Dutch Ambassador discussed the current political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole, as well as the ongoing progress in political, economic and cultural relations between Kurdistan and the Netherlands.
Mr Bakir thanked the Ambassador for his pivotal role in advancing the relationship between their countries.
