Basra province and the Italian oil company ENI have agreed to hold courses for agricultural personnel in both governmental and private sectors, according to Aswat al-Iraq.
A meeting was held with the Italian company to grant support to agricultural projects in the province, with the attendance of representatives from Florence University in Italy, which will provide technical and scientific advice to the courses.
The aim is to provide agricultural projects to the farmers whose lands are affected by ENI's oil operations, helping them to continue agricultural production in the area and preventing the immigration of farmers to the near-by cities.
Each class will have 15 students who will get 167 hours of tuition. Seven of the farmets will be sent for training in Italy.
