A dust storm shut down Baghdad airport on Tuesday, an official from Iraqi Airways told AFP on condition of anonymity.
It was unclear when the airport would reopen, or if attendance at talks in Baghdad between world powers and Iran on the Islamic republic's controversial nuclear programme would be impacted by the closure.
AKnews reported that hospitals and health centers within the Rusafa health department in Baghdad have received dozens of cases of choking and severe asthma because of the dust storms, while Iraq's Meteorological Agency said the dusty atmosphere will probably continue in most cities until Friday.
