Brazilian Delegation Visits Iraq

A Brazilian delegation headed by Undersecretary of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry Mr. Paulo Cordeiro de Andrade Pinto visited Iraq from 15th to 18th December.

The delegation met with both the Foreign Minister, Mr. Hoshyar Zebari, and the Trade Minister, Mr. Khairallah Babiker. The delegation held meetings for the period from 16 - 17 December with an Iraqi delegation headed by Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary, Labeed Abbawi, including representatives from Iraqi ministries where they discussed the issue of reviving relations between the two countries and opportunities to strengthen them in political, economic and cultural areas.

They also discussed the drafts of a number of agreements, memorandums and programs that will be signed in the future to determine the framework for cooperation between the two countries in the mentioned areas.

The Brazilian delegation stressed during the visit their country's desire to develop relations with Iraq for its importance in the region, and hoped that this visit will contribute to open wider horizons for the development of relations between the two countries.
