In response to the demands of Iraq’s rapidly expanding construction and development market RMD Kwikform has opened its first representative office in Erbil in the north of the country. The new office will act as a base for RMD Kwikform’s operations in Iraq, supporting both new and existing customers.
RMD Kwikform has been involved in construction projects throughout Iraq for 35 years and had an operational presence in the market for a number of years. In 2010 the team provided a range of formwork and shoring solutions for the 65,000 seat Basra Sports City Stadium (pictured) and currently RMD Kwikform systems and solutions are helping with the safe and timely delivery of two further sports stadiums and a number of major hotel and infrastructure developments.
To re-strengthen its presence in the country RMD Kwikform has established offices and recruited a locally based team that will provide customers with on the ground support.
Commenting on the expansion into Iraq, Alexis Potter, General Manager – DBME, at RMD Kwikform Middle East said:
"The operational re-entry into Iraq stems from a response to requests from our existing clients in the country and in recognition that the formwork and shoring market in the country continues to develop. In today’s environment we cannot expect clients to be fully satisfied with support from specialists based in neighbouring countries and instead need to move our services into the countries where we can better support our clients to deliver projects.
"By being on the ground and having a physical presence in the country, we will be able to support customers with a locally focused team that better understands our customers’ needs. Equally, the RMD Kwikform team will be able to call upon our wider network of offices throughout the Middle East for engineering, logistical and site support.
"Our experience throughout the region and existing relationships with key contractors working in Iraq will further support the drive for high quality concrete structures and safe and effective temporary works engineering solutions in the country. For new customers, having the opportunity to be supported by a proven, international specialist, capable of achieving high quality results in the tightest of programme times, will certainly be a benefit when it comes to winning and delivering contracts."
