Lebanon asks Iraq to Cut Transit Levy

Lebanon has officially requested Iraq and Egypt to reduce their transit transport fees, in a bid to cut export costs after major land export routes through Syria were disrupted by the ongoing violence.

A statement from Tripoli Chamber of Commerce said:

"It is important that we work together with the Agriculture Ministry to service agricultural exporters and help them meet their demands."

The Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Omar Barzanji (pictured), said:

"The doors of the embassy are wide open to business plans and projects by Lebanese in all sectors."

He added that the embassy is working to facilitate visas for Lebanese, particularly businessmen and investors.
