Five people, including a new anchor, were killed in a suicide bombing on Monday after armed militants stormed a TV complex in Tikrit, Iraq, according to CNN.
A car bomb exploded outside the Salaheddin TV station, and the local offices of al Iraqiya state TV in Tikrit. The militants stormed the offices, and a suicide bomber killed five employees inside the building. The anchor that died in the attack was female, and the head of her news department.
CNN quoted the police, saying that security forces arrived at the scene, fought the attackers and regained control of the building. A curfew was put into effect in Tikrit, and Salaheddin TV has stopped broadcasting until further notice.
