Korean Consul General bids Farewell

The South Korean Consul General to Kurdistan, Mr. Younhyon Kim, visited the KRG Department of Foreign Relations to meet with the Head of the DFR, Minister Falah Mustafa to bid farewell as his tenure in the region comes to an end.

The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Head to the DFR, Ms. Siham Jabali.

Both sides discussed the progress made in bilateral relations since the appointment of Consul General Kim. Minister Mustafa paid tribute to the role that Mr. Kim has played on a number of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian initiatives in Kurdistan.

The Minister expressed his appreciation on behalf of the government and people of Kurdistan towards the efforts of the Consul General and the Republic of Korea for its assistance in various fields throughout his tenure.

Consul General Kim thanked the KRG and in particular the Department of Foreign Relations for their assistance to the Embassy Office over the past few years and also praised the role of the people of the region for their support towards both the government and people of the Republic of Korea.

Minister Mustafa highlighted the importance of the Republic of Korea as a long term strategic partner and expressed his hope that these relations will continue to prosper at a similar level once Mr. Kim’s successor begins his role.

The Minister thanked him and his predecessor for their assistance in human capacity development, particularly the training and courses provided to employees of the Department of Foreign Relations through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Minister Mustafa went on to prais the Korean Parliament for their recognition of the crimes committed against the people of Kurdistan by the former regime as genocide, emphasizing the gratitude of all the Kurdish people towards this stance.
