An offensive launched by Kurdish security forces over the weekend has continued into the middle of the week. Their forces have mainly focused on the city of Mosul that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) had previously declared as the capitol of their “caliphate.”
Kurdish forces have suffered some losses, but have inflicted more causalities on militant forces. They continue to bombard the city of Mosul to weaken the militants’ stronghold.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) shares a 1,000 mile border with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The two forces were previously on the defensive hundreds of feet apart from one another.
