The Independent Human Rights Committee of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have made public their attempts to get the international community to recognize the crimes committed against Yazidi minorities.
The spokesman of Independent Human Rights Committee, Mohammed Gomashini, noted:
“Our committee started to attempt recognition of IS crimes against Kurdish Yazidi people as a genocide. People need to unite to do their best for this case. Whoever has a document, video or other evidence, must protect it in order to not allow this truth to be forgotten or ignored. Our committee is ready to do their best to help and facilitate all those who can help to recognize the crime as a genocide.”
The advance of the Islamic State of the Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) had pushed the Yazidis out of their homes into the Sinjar Mountains where they have suffered for over a week. The picture above shows the holy "Melek Taus" or "Peacock Angel" of the Yazidi religion.
