Kirkuk Governorate has reportedly renewed its demands on the central government to honour a pledge and build a $3-5 billion (3.5-5.8 trillion Iraqi dinar) oil refinery in the province.
Alsumeria News quoted the acting chairman of Kirkuk Provincial Council as saying that the project has been on the cards since 2007, but has not been executed due to disagreements.
He added that a British firm had already prepared designs for the project in 2007.
