The United States plans to deliver 1,000 shoulder-fired AT4 anti-tank systems to Iraq in early June, a senior US State Department official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
The decision to supply anti-tank weapons was reportedly made during the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, to Washington in April.
The AT4 is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot weapon built in Sweden by Saab Bofors Dynamics.
