Mohamad Ali, President & CEO of GE’s Gas Power Systems Projects, in the Middle East, North Africa and India, said:
“GE is committed to supporting Iraq in rebuilding and strengthening its electricity infrastructure, even in the most challenging of times.
"The restoration and operation of the Mansurya Power Plant marks the value-add that our technology, technical support and local presence brings in fast-tracking the development of the country’s power structure.”
As part of its commitment to the country, GE will operate the Mansurya Power Plant for the first three months, ensuring that all systems are in place and that power generation is both smooth and efficient. Subsequently, the plant will be operated directly by the Ministry of Electricity.
Recently, GE supported the Ministry in helping restore operations at a damaged power plant in Mosul. GE is not only working to rebuild the Al-Qayara Power Plant but also providing six new 9E gas turbines that are expected to help deliver up to 750 MW of electricity by the summer of next year.
To date, over 130 GE turbines have been installed across the country. GE has three offices in Iraq - in Baghdad, Erbil and Basra – and the company continues to deliver advanced technology and expertise for the development of critical energy, healthcare and transportation infrastructure in the country.
