Bank of Baghdad joins KRG's Financial Inclusion Initiative

By John Lee.

Following approval from the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), the KRG has announced that the Bank of Baghdad will join its 'MyAccount' financial inclusion initiative.

In a statement, the KRG said:

"Bank of Baghdad's participation will help increase banking products and services and accelerate the emergence of consumer credit for the people of the Kurdistan Region. With one of the biggest branch networks in the country, Bank of Baghdad has 6 branches in the Kurdistan Region.

"We expect more banks to join later this month, providing our citizens more banking choices and expanding the financial services sector more generally. The KRG's strong partnerships with all the participating banks have led to the opening of more than 200,000 bank accounts for public sector beneficiaries.

"We remain on track to onboard all KRG beneficiaries by the end of the year."
