Iraqi Minister of Housing, Reconstruction, and Municipalities, and head of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA), Mr. Benkin Rekani, signed an air services agreement with Austrian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Andrea Nasi, on Thursday.
Following the signing ceremony, Rekani expressed his satisfaction, highlighting that the agreement will open new avenues and resume direct flights between Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) and Vienna International Airport after a ten-year hiatus. This agreement aims to enhance travel services and boost connectivity with European countries.
Rekani also mentioned the hope for Austrian specialist delegations to visit Baghdad International Airport, emphasizing the responsibility of relevant government institutions to cooperate and coordinate to meet all requirements for the direct flight operation between Baghdad and Vienna.
Ambassador Nasi thanked the Iraqi side for its role and efforts in successfully negotiating and signing the air services agreement between the two countries.
