GKP confirms Interim Chair

By John Lee.

Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has confirmed that Deputy Chair of the Board and interim Senior Independent Director David Thomas will assume the role of Interim Chair until further notice.

The announcement follows the passing of Chairman Martin Angle earlier this week.

In a statement, Jon Harris, Gulf Keystone's Chief Executive Officer, paid tribute to the late Chairman, saying:

"The Board and the entire team are deeply saddened and shocked by Martin's passing, and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time, and we offer them our deepest sympathies. Martin has been instrumental in guiding the Company through a period of significant value creation for shareholders while navigating material challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the suspension of the export pipeline. He will be sorely missed for his generous spirit and enthusiasm and fondly remembered by everyone at Gulf Keystone, both as a colleague and a friend."

"Martin enjoyed a highly distinguished career, having held senior executive roles in investment banking, industry and private equity, and more recently held a number of non-executive positions.

"Martin joined the Gulf Keystone Board in July 2018 as Senior Independent Director, served as Deputy Chair from 2019 before being appointed Chair at the Gulf Keystone 2023 AGM. The Board valued his contribution, and he will be greatly missed."
