The Iraqi Ministry of Transport has announced the completion of the five-berth construction project at Al-Faw Grand Port's container terminal.
According to Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, all stages of the project have been successfully finalized, following the directives of Transport Minister Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi:
- Project Details:
- The project is part of the Al-Faw Grand Port development, specifically the container terminal.
- Pier Area: 167,000 square meters.
- Depth: Excavation at the pier's frontage reached a depth of 22.6 meters.
- Excavation Volume: 2,600,000 cubic meters of soil.
- Number of Piles: 1,736 pipe piles were completed.
- Rock Usage: 1,500,000 tons of rocks of various sizes were used.
- Materials Used:
- Sand, Gravel, and Subbase: 2,000,000 cubic meters.
- Precast Pieces: 6,050 pieces of various shapes, designs, and purposes.
- Concrete Volume: 130,000 cubic meters.
- Additional Structures:
- Bridges: 880 connecting bridges.
- Asphalt Paving: 12,600 tons of asphalt used.
- Fenders: 117 fenders completed.
- Mooring Points: 144 mooring points for ships.
- Completion: The area has been fully connected to the five piers.
- Overall Project:
- Part of five major projects for Al-Faw Grand Port.
- Includes the construction of five large piers, each 1,750 meters long, designed to unload ships and create a container yard.
