Iraq to Regulate Postal Delivery Services

By John Lee.

Iraq's Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, led a workshop on Sunday focused on drafting guidelines to regulate delivery companies, in collaboration with the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the initiative aims to prevent monopolies and introduce fair competition in service sectors. Al-Yasiri emphasized improving Iraqi postal services, adopting the slogan "Iraqi mail reaches every home," with support from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani.

Key reforms include revising past contracts, collaborating with international firms, and introducing electronic payment systems, all part of a broader strategy to elevate postal services. Recent efforts have significantly improved Iraq's global postal rankings.
