Iraq's Foreign Economic Relations Department, through its commercial attaché in Washington, held talks with US-based MACK Trucks to explore avenues of economic and commercial cooperation between Iraq and the United States.
The discussions focused on technology transfer and establishing truck assembly lines in Iraq, following the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the company and the Iraq Development Fund for specialized vehicle manufacturing.
The meeting, which included Iraq's military attaché, also covered joint projects with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, reviewing existing contracts and potential future collaboration.
Derik Beck, MACK's Sales Manager, expressed strong interest in entering the Iraqi market, supported by long-term financing agreements with the U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM).
MACK has also signed an MoU with Diwaniyah province to supply vehicles for waste management and civil defense, with ongoing work on this project.
Iraq's commercial attaché reaffirmed the Ministry of Trade's support for initiatives that strengthen U.S.-Iraq economic relations, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with Iraq's private sector in the country's developmental projects.
