Iraq's Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, announced the successful conclusion of the 13th session of the Iraq-Spain Joint Committee, which resumed after a decade-long hiatus.
The discussions, held in Baghdad, focused on enhancing economic and trade relations between the two nations. Minister Al-Saadawi highlighted Iraq's policy shift towards global economic openness and increased private sector involvement, including leveraging Iraq's geographic position through projects like the Development Road.
Newly-appointed Spanish Ambassador Alicia Rico Pérez del Pulgar praised Iraq's reconstruction efforts, expressing Spain's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. The meetings covered a broad range of topics, including memoranda of understanding in sectors like trade, industry, infrastructure, and energy. Both sides agreed on further cooperation outside the committee's framework, facilitated by Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
