During his official visit to London, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell, to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation between Iraq and the energy giant.
The discussions emphasized Iraq's focus on advancing its oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors, aligned with the government's recent announcement of new investment opportunities.
Wael Sawan expressed Shell's readiness to increase its investments in Iraq, particularly in the associated gas sector and free gas fields. These initiatives align with Iraq's latest licensing rounds for gas field development across various regions.
Shell is a key player in the Basra Gas Company (BGC), a joint venture between the Iraq's South Gas Company (51%), Shell (44%) and Mitsubishi (5%).
